José A. Romero is a queer guerrilerx living in Durham, NC, descended from working-class immigrants from El Salvador and Mexico. Inspired by apocalypse and alchemy, his abolitionist organizing for black/brown futures includes forging with Alerta Migratoria NC, Defend Durham, Durham Beyond Policing, Inside-Outside Alliance, LGBTQ Center of Durham, and pursuing a Cultural Anthropology PhD at Duke University. He writes about environments, militarization, and the poetics of insurgency and is at work on a poetry manuscript as well as a multi-modal research project tentatively titled Unsettling Sanctuary.
