A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Carrboro and the Triangle area from 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8 until noon on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Expected Impacts
- Snow: Accumulations of about 1/2 inch are expected across the Triangle area.
- Today's Commute (Monday): Morning: Expect mostly rain, with a few snowflakes possible. Afternoon: The afternoon commute will likely see a changeover to all snow.
- Black Ice is a Major Threat: Very cold air arrives this evening, causing a flash freeze and potential for hazardous black ice on roads and elevated surfaces tonight through Tuesday morning.
- Low Temperature: The minimum temperature tonight is forecast to drop to 22 degrees F near the Triangle.
Public Works crews are treating sidewalks and areas around town buildings, and they are monitoring the roadways. Crews will be operating overnight to treat any areas of concern.
Please use extra caution when driving, especially Tuesday morning.
