CARRBORO, NC -- Carrboro homeowners will once again have the opportunity to apply for a free Stormwater Site Assessment beginning August 1. Now in its second year, this program enables residents to take proactive steps in managing stormwater and enhancing landscape resilience.
What’s Involved
Participants work directly with Town staff to receive personalized, on-site guidance tailored to their property. Recommendations may include:
- Nature-based solutions like rain gardens and bioswales
- Techniques to reduce impervious surfaces
- Strategies for rainwater harvesting and erosion control
Why It Matters
Stormwater assessments help slow runoff and improve filtration, protecting local streams and reducing flood risks. Since the program’s launch, dozens of assessments have been completed, with many property owners moving forward on improvements that support stormwater infiltration.
Timeline & Deadline
Applications will be open Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, 2025, and will be accepted on a rolling basis. Assessments will be scheduled through February 2026, so early application is encouraged.
